A police dog that went missing for nearly a week has been discharged from an animal hospital. The two-year-old dog, Gael, jumped out of his patrol vehicle while on the job and was later spotted by a resident in their front yard. Gael was taken to VCA Animal Hospital for treatment after being picked up by police.

The dog's disappearance had prompted an all-out search effort by the department, which included reviewing nearby surveillance footage. The footage showed Gael being struck by a car as he ran away. Gael, a yellow Labrador, is healthy and back with his team, according to officials.
