Saharan dust keeping South Florida mostly dry, but temperatures continue to skyrocket

The chances of seeing showers and thunderstorms in South Florida remain low due to Saharan dust, but temperatures are continuing to rise with feels-like temperatures nearing 110 degrees on Wednesday afternoon leading to heat advisories.
Why this matters in The Miami
Miami 's Brickell and downtown areas, known for their dense populations and urban heat islands, are likely to feel the brunt of these soaring temperatures. The heat advisories issued for the region will be particularly concerning for outdoor workers, such as construction crews in Wynwood, who may be exposed to the extreme heat for extended periods. Meanwhile, residents in coastal neighborhoods like Miami Beach may experience some relief from the heat due to the ocean breeze, but the Saharan dust will still keep precipitation at bay. As the summer months wear on, Miami-Dade County's vulnerable populations, including the elderly and young children, will need to take extra precautions to stay cool and hydrated. The Miami-Dade Police and Miami Police Department may also need to increase patrols in public areas to ensure residents are taking necessary heat precautions.
